Senior Scientist (Ph.D.) — dPCR

Artemis Health Inc. is an early stage company dedicated to providing women, their families, and physicians with accurate and timely information regarding maternal and fetal well-being. Our goal is to develop a simple, non-invasive, and accurate prenatal diagnostic test for all women in the first and second trimesters, replacing both amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling (CVS). With a single maternal blood draw, early in pregnancy, our test will isolate intact fetal cells, providing valuable fetal genetic information without risk to the mother or her baby.

The company is located in Menlo Park, CA. We are looking for talented people with proven skills in their discipline that enjoy working in a collaborative environment to further advances in maternal and fetal health care. This opportunity to work within a small entrepreneurial team offers tremendous growth opportunities, with competitive benefits and compensation.

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist to join a team responsible for isolating circulating fetal cells from maternal blood and performing genetic analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory procedures associated with fetal cell isolation and downstream genetic analysis.
  • Develop and launch new products by initiating, directing and executing scientific research and/or development strategies through the research staff or individual studies.
  • Organize data into meaningful reports and present to management.
  • This role is expected to manage several projects simultaneously; be highly flexible and deliver results against aggressive timelines.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in molecular biology, genetics or related field
  • Minimum 2 - 3 years of post-doc experience is required
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in diagnostics assay development or biotech development is preferred
  • Experience in genetic and/or genomic analyses, including qPCR, RT-PCR and aCGH, especially being familiar with digital PCR using Fluidigm system, is strongly preferred
  • Good skill in biostatistics and data analysis is desired
  • Experience in immuno- based cell separations, including MACS, FACS and immunocytochemistry, is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to be well organized, able to work independently, plan and execute experiments and interpret results.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving and time management skills are essential.
  • Flexibility and a willingness to work with a team in a challenging and fast-paced research and development setting are essential.
